The V4SAFETY webinar series shares the project’s final results across several topical sessions, each addressing a key theme.

This webinar - which took place on 15 September - focused on the part of the V4SAFETY Safety Assessment Framework dedicated to the simulation structure and models selection, which is interconnected with the evaluation scope definition, the baseline approach selection, the data preparation and the simulation configuration. The webinar explained how to set up a simulation structure to generate results that fit the intended evaluation scope, and how to select suitable modelling approaches for each element in the structure (e.g. traffic participants, infrastructure), and finally how should the models be connected during runtime and to initial / boundary conditions.

The presented methodology builds upon established standards such as (ISO 21934-1, 2021) and (ISO 21934-2, 2024), as well as the P.E.A.R.S. framework and aims to support the evaluation of both pre-crash and in-crash safety measures, including vehicle-integrated technologies, infrastructure-based interventions, and behavioural changes among traffic participants.

More detailed information is available in the V4SAFETY report D5.1 and in the “Processor” - a tool to support V4SAFETY Framework users in creating simulation structures, selecting models, and generating related documentation following the guidelines set up by the project. A demonstration video of the Processor will also soon be released.

The presentation (PDF) can be found on our Outputs page.
