V4SAFETY results presented at international road safety conference

At the RS5C (Road Safety on Five Continents) conference in Leeds, the V4SAFETY project presented its final results. After 36 months of research and collaboration, the project concludes this month with key outcomes that contribute to improving road safety worldwide.

The 20th International RS5C Conference took place at Cloth Hall Court in Leeds from 3 to 5 September 2025. The abstract submitted by V4SAFETY was accepted in the session Tools and Frameworks. On Thursday 4 September, Olaf Op den Camp (TNO) presented the project’s work under the title Applying the V4SAFETY prospective safety assessment framework.

The project has delivered:

  • A widely accepted and harmonized predictive safety assessment framework.
  • Guidelines to ensure that models and simulation components properly address the behaviour of drivers, vehicle occupants, and vulnerable road users (VRUs).
  • Guidelines for models and simulation components to address different types of safety solutions, including in-vehicle, infrastructure, and regulatory measures.
  • A methodology for projecting the benefits of safety measures across the EU in the coming years, taking into account expected changes in the mobility system.
  • Demonstrations of the framework through relevant use cases.

More information about the results is available on the V4SAFETY website. In addition, the project has organised several webinars to provide in-depth insights. Recordings of past sessions and details of upcoming webinars can also be found on the website.
