V4SAFETY final results video
The V4SAFETY project is coming to a close, but its impact is just beginning. At our Final Event during the FISITA World Mobility Conference in Barcelona (3-4 June 2025), we shared the results of three years of collaborative research and development.
Watch our Final Results Video - recorded at the event - to discover how V4SAFETY is shaping the future of road safety.
What we delivered
Over the course of the project, V4SAFETY has delivered:
-A widely accepted and harmonized predictive safety assessment framework
-Guidelines to ensure models and simulation components properly address the behaviour of drivers, vehicle occupants, and vulnerable road users (VRUs)
-Guidelines for simulation models that cover different types of safety solutions, including in-vehicle, infrastructure, and regulatory measures
-A methodology for projecting the benefits of safety measures across the EU, accounting for future mobility system changes
-Demonstrations of the framework through relevant use cases
Highlights from the Final Event
As part of the conference’s program on Safety and Automated Driving, V4SAFETY presented its framework for prospective traffic safety assessments using virtual simulations. This provides a transparent and consistent process for evaluating safety measures, paving the way for safer mobility solutions across Europe and beyond.
Conference participants engaged with our work through:
-An expert-led technical session on 3 June
-Interactive discussions at our exhibition booth
-Dedicated “Meet the Experts” sessions with project partners
Why it matters
V4SAFETY’s results provide a solid foundation for the virtual evaluation of safety innovations, enhancing comparability and reliability of safety assessments. This is a crucial step toward bridging the gap between technical advances and real-world market impact.
About V4SAFETY
Funded by the EU, V4SAFETY developed a simulation-based safety assessment framework designed to protect both drivers and vulnerable road users (VRUs). By improving the way safety is evaluated, the project contributes to more effective policies, safer vehicles, and ultimately, safer roads.
In this video you’ll hear reflections from:
Stakeholder perspective - how policy makers, industry stakeholders and road safety experts view the outcomes and future impact;
Project partner perspective - insights from those who developed the methodologies and ran the use cases;
Collaboration partner perspective - what external partners bring, lessons learned, and how collaboration shaped the results.
